An editorial note.

Snippets 2 (just posted below) was originally published two weeks after the signing of the Munich Agreement. Italy, Germany, France, and Great Britain agreed that Germany should be permitted to occupy the Sudeten territory of the First Czechoslovak Republic

The tone of these fragments follows that pretty well. The optimism of the last statement makes those that come before it all the sadder for me. Not to mention the fact that he would refuse to leave Czechoslovakia and would die just over two months later.
